Patrick, tell us how your headaches began?
I began suffering from severe headaches four years ago. I can remember this so well because of the devastating effects they were having on my life. I am always so shocked when I think back to how suddenly my headaches started. Most people assume that they gradually build up and get progressively worse over time but for me, it was like being hit by a train. The pain was so sudden and so severe that I couldn’t figure out how to tackle it. Initially, a severe headache would take up to two days to clear. Then, they became much more lengthy. It got to the point where pain medication just didn’t work. I was going to bed with a headache and I knew I would wake up in the morning to more pain. It was at this point that I knew they were taking over my life, but I had lost all hope of ever being pain free again.
How did the pain affect your life?
I can’t begin to describe how bad things were. As a self employed businessman I had no option but to battle through it. Getting myself up and out to work each day was a continual struggle. Simple everyday activities and the things we take for granted were practically impossible. There were days when things were just so bad that I was confined to my home.
What led you to Apex Headache Clinic?
In all honesty, it was my final option. My headaches were affecting not just me but everyone in my life. My wife knew my struggle only too well and when Apex came highly recommended to her, we began checking out the website and booked an appointment. I hoped that it was worth a shot.
