65-year-old Sharon Huddleson from Ballywalter had been suffering horrendous headaches for 37 years. Sharon, when did your headaches begin?
I started getting headaches in my late twenties but around 3 years ago the headaches became more severe and migraines started with pain at the back of my head. Along with the pain in my head I had nausea and painful sensations in my arms, legs and face. I attended my GP and he suggested that my headaches and symptoms might be stemming from neck arthritis. My GP suggested various medications but none of them helped the pain.
How did the headaches affect your life?
My life was at a standstill. I wasn’t able to go out or make plans because I didn’t know how I would feel that day. I have grandchildren and having severe headaches, pain and nausea meant that I couldn’t help out as much as I would have liked or do the things that I wanted with them.

How has your life changed since having treatment?
It has changed my life and I can do the things I was missing out on! I haven’t had one of my severe headaches since I started having treatment at Apex Headache Clinic, which is amazing. I do still have the odd blip but nothing like what I had experienced before. I now see my specialist physiotherapist at a maintenance level of once every 3 weeks. I like that I see the same physio at each session and that they allow time at the beginning of the session to find out how I have been since my previous appointment before starting any treatment.
