I have now got my life back thanks to Apex Headache Clinic
44-year-old, Michelle Osborne from Bangor, suffered with migraines and headaches after having Covid which had turned her life upside down. After thinking headaches might be something she would have to live with, she visited Apex Headache Clinic in the hope that she could get even a little relief. Michelle, when did your headaches begin?
I took covid 2 years ago and afterwards I was left with headaches which isn’t even a strong enough word to describe the pain I was in. I felt like a scalding hot poker was being stabbed through the right hand side of my head and even my face was affected. I went to my GP and was referred for a brain scan and I was also sent to get my eyes checked. These came back clear but I was no further forward regarding the pain and I just kept suffering every day.
How did the pain affect your life?
The pain was horrific. I would end up in bed unable to lift my head with the pain. There were times when this was happening for 5 days in the week. I had no life whatsoever during this time. I was unable to run around after my son or look after my dog. I am a hairdresser and there were whole days when I would have to cancel all of my clients, so I wasn’t able to work either.
What led you to Apex Headache Clinic?
My friend in work had been attending Apex Clinic for physio and she recommended that I attend one of the headache physiotherapists to see what they could do for me. I just needed to try anything at that stage to give me relief from the pain. I phoned up and booked an appointment. From my first appointment with my specialist physiotherapist, Nicole, I really felt listened to. At every appointment she kept giving me advice on things to do to help, alongside her “hands on” physio treatment.
How has your life changed since having treatment?
Within 3 months my headaches had completely gone! I have now got my life back. I am back to working full time, I can do whatever I need to do for my son and I’m in a new relationship. I hadn’t had a proper life for years and I am now back functioning normally, I don’t have to cancel plans and spend days in bed in pain! It’s fantastic!
What advice would you offer someone suffering from headaches or migraines?
If you explained to me before that such a gentle treatment to your neck was going to take the pain and headaches away, I wouldn’t have believed it! I would say to anyone suffering… just try it, it’s so worth it.
