“I’m migraine-free after 10 years, thanks to Apex Headache Clinic”

Since she was a teenager, 24-year old Amber Carson from Dundonald was living with horrendous migraines. Putting this down to anti-epilepsy medication, Amber believed that this was something that she would have to live with for the rest of her life. After hearing about Apex Headache Clinic, she booked an appointment in desperation to see if she could get any relief at all. Here, Amber shares how the clinic’s unique regime of specialist manual physiotherapy treatment for headaches and migraines, called The Nelson Headache Approach™, cleared her migraines, meaning that she could finally enjoy life again.

Amber, when did your migraines begin?

My migraines started when I was 15-years old. I tried avoiding all the ‘typical’ migraine triggers such as caffeine, chocolate and cheese and this had little affect. Pain medication did nothing to ease the migraines and the symptoms were pretty horrendous. I visited a GP who advised me to start recording what I was eating to see if we could pinpoint anything which was causing them, but to my frustration, no patterns emerged. I believed my migraines were either a side effect of my anti-epilepsy medication or were hormonal and therefore I thought that I was just going to have to learn to live with the pain. As an outgoing teenager, it was awful.

How did the pain affect your life?

The pain was always there, on the right side of my head. Living with migraines isn’t just about the pain though. I was constantly tired and nauseous, to the point of being sick. I frequently had to leave work early and worst of all, I could never commit to social occasions. I was always having to tell my friends that I would let them know at the weekend if I could make an event, and of course, almost without fail, a migraine prevented me from meeting them. It got very tiring saying no to people all the time, but it was the only thing that I could do. In most cases, the pain was so bad that I just had to go to bed and wait for it to ease.

What led you to Apex Headache Clinic?

It was actually my mum who heard about Apex Headache Clinic. With nothing to lose, she suggested I give it a try and I’m so glad I did. When Nicole diagnosed my migraines as stemming from my neck, I was shocked, as I never experienced any neck pain. I was so pleased to finally know the cause. Initially, I attended the clinic twice a week. After about three to four weeks, I began to notice an improvement, with the pain gradually easing. I am delighted to say that for the past couple of months, I have been completely migraine-free, which is just unbelievable.

How has Apex Headache Clinic changed your life?

I would say that my life has completely changed. It has also made a massive difference to my parents’ lives too as they spent so much time worrying about me. It’s a big weight off my shoulders and to be able to commit to social events without fear that I’ll have to cancel, is fantastic. I never imagined I would get to this stage.

What advice would you offer someone suffering from migraines?

Absolutely visit Apex Headache Clinic. Their specialist regime worked for me and it could work for you too. I have already recommended Apex to so many people, including my dad, who is currently attending for back pain.
