Dawn, tell us how your headaches began
For me, there is nothing definitive that I can think of which started my headaches. About 18 months ago, I can remember having a headache before going to bed. I took paracetamol and woke up in the morning to find it was still there. Believe it or not, that headache continued constantly with the pain only getting worse and worse with time.
I tried to find a cure for my never ending headache. I was taking painkillers daily, which was pointless because they did little to help. How did the pain affect your life?
It truly was devastating. My mum had to come and look after the kids because I couldn’t do more than lie on the sofa. There were days when even getting out of bed was impossible. It was awful to feel that I couldn’t even look after my kids. Last year, with a great deal of effort, we went on a family holiday, which was a disaster. I spent most of the time confined to the hotel room. It was a real struggle to make it enjoyable for the kids. I knew it had to stop.
